Creativity is an integral part of the work in many spheres, so in this article, we would like to share useful information and tips that will help you to return creativity, find inspiration and forget about the crisis.

If you lost motivation, experiencing difficult times, the employer says that your ideas have lost their relevance, and you are not working hard enough. Due to this, you get upset, go headlong into work, refuse to sleep, read the necessary literature and study the work of competitors. However, you still have problems with creativity and productivity loss, thinking about whether you have chosen the right profession. Highway61 has prepared some tips for the best creative minds in this world, to help them overcome difficulties and creativity crises.

Stay alone.

A creative crisis comes when you are too overloaded with information, even though it seems to you that there is an emptiness in your head. Usually, instead of being alone, putting things off for a while, and figuring out if you have a problem — you add new things to your schedule to make your brain work with greater intensity. All you need to do is spend one or two days alone with yourself and understand that any crisis is just a new experience.

Put aside the literature.

Yes, it's never too late to learn, and even more but when you are in a state of a crisis of ideas, all sources are useless. Stop reading magazines, books, and Google, abstract from work, don’t try to find a way out here and now: inspiration lives in other places – a small spoiler before the next point.

Take a look around.

If you have been subjected to a creative crisis, we strongly recommend you take a few days off and visit nature. If this is not possible, ask to work remotely — from the park or your favorite café. A small hint - we are inspired by the unusual environment and simple details: an apple blossom, a walk along the quay with refreshing lemonade, watching everyday life outside the walls of your office.

Discover new places.

You can go to museums, gardens, coffee shops or libraries. Go to the exhibition, or if you think that you don’t understand modern art, get out to the observation decks and look at open dance lessons. It won't take much time, but it will fill you with new impressions.

Make new acquaintances.

Nothing is more inspiring than meeting new people, for example, a musician, writer or a person of any other profession who is in love with his/her work. In addition, he/she can also give a couple of tips on finding lost creativity— love for the profession doesn’t arise without losses.

Do what you are good at.

The first thought that visits us when we are experiencing creativity crisis: "I can't do anything else," but that's not true. Start by performing simple tasks that don’t require a special approach: prepare dinner, do yoga, arrange things in the closet, start keeping a notebook with quotes from your favorite writers, singers, actors. This will help to distract yourself and understand that everything is easier than it seems.

Create a morning ritual.

Small rituals that we repeat every day at the same time give us a guarantee that we can control our life, which means that we aren’t afraid of any crisis. Even a glass of water with lemon, a 5-minute exercise, a meditation or reading 10 pages of a book in the morning can make your day better and more productive.

Don’t be a perfectionist.

This seems unacceptable but relax. There is no need to strive for greatness and uniqueness in what you do. Often, these are only the thoughts about one's own uniqueness and intolerance that can slow down your work process. If you carry out your daily plan, calmly following all points, you will have time for everything and even more, gradually moving towards to the self-improvement. Nobody is perfect, so don’t put yourself in frames.

Do sports.

One of the founders of the company National Forest believes that ideas are hidden behind excess weight. "I go running, or riding a bike, or walk with my dog — in general, do anything, just not work on a project. According to my theory, good ideas are hidden in excess weight; if you burn it — they will be released!". Sport gives a boost of adrenaline and energy, besides, it gets rid of bad thoughts, so if all people on the planet adored sports, we will have less burnouts.

Find a new hobby.

To continue working on one favorite thing, find another. Perhaps it is through a new hobby that you will be able to understand in which direction you need to move. It’s time to make changes in your life, so go to the courses of jewelry making, Chinese language or fashion illustration. After some time, you will feel fresher and full of new ideas, in addition, you can make new friends.

Go to the trip.

Where, if not on the other side of the world, to open new horizons for yourself? If you don’t have an opportunity and time to take a one-way ticket to Bali, Brazil, Belgium, or somewhere else, then you can go to another city, for example. Just get a bus ticket or refuel a car and go to mountains, beach, or historical place. Inspiration will follow you, and when it’s time – it will sit on the seat next to you.

“Every day is an opportunity to be creative – the canvas is your mind, the brushes and colors are your thoughts and feelings, the panorama is your story, the complete picture is a work of art called, ‘my life’. Be careful what you put on the canvas of your mind today – it matters” — Innerspace

Don’t be afraid of having creativity crisis, just be ready to get some day offs to recover your energy and power. You can’t work 24/7 and always generate ideas, try to have more meetings with friends, leave time for hobbies, and bring new rituals to your life. Don’t try to be perfect, be yourself, and accept obstacles with a smile on the face.
